We are what you think. Our word and attitude diet affects our emotional well being. How is your emotional diet right now? What are you feeding yourself with in terms of word phrases and attitudes? Are you being intentional about what you allow in to your life to promote emotional well-being. We can improve our emotional outlook and health by guarding against unhealthy words and attitudes and making better word and attitude choices.

Word phrases and attitudes to add to your diet:

1. “I Love…”

2. “I am…”

3. “I will… “

4. “I can…”

5. “Sometimes”, “Usually”, “Mostly”

6. “I believe…”(faith)

7. “both” “and”

8. Positive affirmations

9. “What if …”expecting the best

10. Solutions and opportunities focused.

Words and attitudes to avoid in your diet:

1. Never, Always, None, No one- Extremes are a false reality and limit out behavior and ability to move forward. “No one is buying?”

2. Should, have to, need to, - Used carelessly, these words presuppose rules and standards for behavior that do not exist in reality. "I should really get around to doing more calls some day."

3. Frightened, afraid, fear – False evidence appearing real limits forward movement. “It’s frightening out there. “

4. Hate – Why would anyone continue to do anything we hate. Close cousin to fear. “I hate popbys; I’ve never done one but I hate them”

5. Can’t, Don’t – Whether you “can” or “can’t” you are right.

6. “What if…” Expecting the worst does not encourage you to behave effectively. "What if they don't like me?"

7. “Yes, But” statements. The word “But” negates any good that might have proceeded it. “I would call my clients BUT no one is buying right now. “

8. Negative labels, Negative self-talk -We become the labels we use. –“I’m fat”, “I’m not good at …”- This is usually a mixture of half-truths, poor logic, and distortions of reality that perpetuates negative emotions.

9. Complaining - Dwelling on the problems is simply pointing to what’s wrong and avoiding the good stuff.

Use better quality words phrases and attitudes in your daily diet and you will immediately see better Emotional health. It simply works.
